Golf Course Opening -- UPDATED

Eberhart-Petro Golf Course is now open for play, weather permitting. Before making the trip to play a round, please call the course at (574) 255-5508 to verify course condtions.
ORIGINAL POST -- The opening date for Eberhart-Petro Municipal Golf Course has been postponed. The course had been set to open for play on Friday, March 15 however Golf Course Superintendent George Fowler indicated that the course was unplayable at the current time. The overall condition of the course will be reviewed on a daily basis, especially throughout the coming weekend, to determine if the course can open.
Ray Chamberlin honored as Mishawaka's Poet Laureate
Ray Chamberlin was officially honored at the Mishawaka High School Alumni Luncheon as Mishawaka’s “Poet Laureate” on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
Ray grew up on Wenger Street in Mishawaka, one of ten children, and was greatly influenced by his father, George Chamberlin, who was both a poet and a painter. Ray was a Mishawaka mail carrier for 25 years and began getting some local renown when he wrote a poem in response to the silly song, “The Little Blue Nun,” which was written by an Alabama football fan in protest of Notre Dame winning the 1977 national championship.
Mayor Wood to Deliver "State of the City" Address February 18th
Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood will deliver his State of the City address on Monday night, February 18th. The State of the City address is set for 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers after the Common Council meeting.
The theme that will be highlighted for this year’s address is “Shaping Mishawaka’s Future”. Mayor Wood will reflect not only on the accomplishments of 2012, but will also identify those changes that have been made in how the City does its business that will profoundly contribute to “Shaping Mishawaka’s Future”.
Officer of the Quarter - 4th Qtr, 2012
Mishawaka Police Chief Ken Witkowski has announced Cpl. Jeremy Tyler as “Officer of the Fourth Quarter – 2012”. "Because of Cpl. Tyler’s self-initiative and keen sense of awareness, two felony suspects were apprehended after breaking into the new Mishawaka Main Junior High Apartments. It was discovered that both suspects were also responsible for earlier crimes reported at this location," said Chief Witkowski.
