Leaf Collection Begins October 28th

The Mishawaka Street Department will begin the city’s annual fall leaf collection program on Monday, October 28, 2019 and will follow a schedule that should help residents plan their leaf raking activities. Residents may begin raking leaves to their curbside starting the weekend of October 26-27.

Mishawaka Education Foundation Community Greenhouse Ribbon Cutting

The Mishawaka Parks Department will be having a ribbon cutting event for the Mishawaka Education Foundation Community Greenhouse on Saturday October 19th at 11am on the corner of Broadway and Marion Street where the newly constructed greenhouse is located. This is the 2nd City of Mishawaka community fundraiser project made possible by the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority CreatINg Places program which provided a 100% match to funds raised by the community. The Mishawaka Education Foundation generously donated $10,000 to bring life to this new structure and 77 other patrons followed their lead to help raise the necessary funds.

Mishawaka Fire Dept. Cancer Shirts Available

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Mishawaka Fire Dept. in conjunction with Mishawaka Fire Dept. Union Local 360 believes in this being a national cause. 

Pedestrian Bridge and Riverwalk Closure Update

UPDATED: The south end of the cable-stayed Pedestrian Bridge will be reopened as of August 30th. During weekdays, the Riverwalk from Kamm Island to Beutter Park, on the sourth side of the river, will continue to be closed from September 2 through October 4. On weekends, the Riverwalk will be reopened for public use.
