New WNIT Project "Our Town"

WNIT, our local public broadcasting station, has approached Mayor Dave Wood with a project called “Our Town”.  The project is an hour-long program that will feature Mishawaka.  The concept of the program will be a positive look at Mishawaka through the eyes of its citizens.

 Around 15 different stories will be included in the program. The program content could include, but may not be limited to, historical sites, landmarks, hang-outs, churches and colleges, etc. Other surrounding cities have been featured on this program in the past including, Warsaw and Goshen. You may find these programs on the WNIT website for reference.  

This production is not affiliated with the City of Mishawaka but we have a unique opportunity to shape its success.  We are asking for you to consider becoming a volunteer videographer to help tell the great story of the Princess City. Should you accept this mission, you will receive free training from WNIT’s professional production team to create a video scrapbook of the stories that make Mishawaka special.  You can develop and complete a project individually or you can form a small team to create a project.  You will not only do the video shooting, but you will also be asked to do an interview as a narrative to the video that you produced.  All videos and productions will be edited by WNIT and will end up in the final broadcast.   

A free videography class will be conducted by WNIT on June 28th to train amateur, volunteer videographers on the basics of shot composition and selecting topics of interest in the City. Videotaping of projects will occur from June 29th to July 8th.   The interviews for the videographers will be July 9th and 10th.  A premier event is planned prior to the broadcast of the show on August 16th and the Broadcast Day will be August 19th at the WNIT studios. Videographers will be asked to be involved in that.   We will let you know the exact locations and other details as they become available.
