Eberhart Newsletter - July 2011
As we reach the half way point in the golf season, we have great hopes that the conditions in the second half will show a vast improvement over what can only be described as a dreary spring. We did have a pretty good June in spite of the less than favorable weather, with several days in the latter half of the month going over 200 players for the day. With the water table so high, it didn’t take much for the golf course to get soft and wet, but considering that we’ve flooded twice this year and had several areas under water for lots of days, the golf course is in good shape.
I held a successful junior golf school in June that 15 kids attended in four different classes. They were all great to work with and really did well in learning some of the basics needed to be a successful golfer. In case you have a junior that missed out the first time or your child wants to take again, I will hold another class this month July 18th through the 21st. Call the Golf Shop at 255-5508 for more information.
We have the Mishawaka Metro tournament taking place on July 9th and 10th in a 36 hole stroke play event. Entry fee for the event is $40 plus carts and greens fees as needed. Sign ups are being taken in the Golf Shop.
The Mishawaka High School Wrestling Club outing will take place on the 16th, Club 15 has an outing on the 24th, and the Marine Corps League outing will take place on the 31st. We also have several other smaller groups of 20 to 30 players throughout the month as well as all of our league play, so it is always a good idea to make a tee time if you are planning on playing.
This month’s concerts on the deck feature Vehikle on the 15th, and EP Unplugged on the 29th. The shows start at 8:00 PM, but we are open to serve you something to eat and anything you’d like to drink leading up to that time and throughout the evening.
August is going to be really busy with outings, as we have a sizeable group every Saturday. That won’t mean that the course will be closed all day, but we probably won’t be open for play until the afternoon each Saturday. After the poor start that we’ve had for the year and all the lost revenue as a result, hopefully we can do some catching up to wrap up the summer season and head into fall.
We still have some great deals on closeouts in every club category, and sales on everything else like bags, shoes, etc. We also have some nice Notre Dame Sweatshirts by Gear to get ready for the big breakout season the Irish are going to have this year on the gridiron. Stop and get yours while the selection is good!
